The different materials used in window frames, particularly vinyl, have limited the range of colors that homeowners can choose. That doesn’t mean you can’t get creative!
According to Glass.com, dark-colored window frames and sashes have been seeing an increase in popularity over the last few years. If your walls and siding are lighter in color, then darker windows can create a stunning contrast. If the walls around the windows are darker, then these windows will create a more uniform look.
White and other neutral tones can help create clean lines, improving your home’s curb appeal. Less conventional colors, such as red, allow the home and homeowner’s personality to shine through.
The roof is one part of the home that often gets ignored until something goes wrong. However, that doesn’t mean that homeowners can’t get a little creative when choosing colors for their roof. Look for colors that complement the permanent features of your home, such as the chimney or stone facade, and consider how the roofing will look in both light and shadow.
For 2017, the most popular home siding colors have been a combination of calming and bright, such as dark blue, forest green, and mahogany. Also trending has been light-colored trim that pops against these darker sidings. Siding with rustic textures, such as wood grain, have also been popular in 2017.
This trend toward nature-friendly colors will continue in 2018, along with a return to neutrals like cream and gray. Likewise, pastels may start to see a comeback, as well as all-white exteriors.
